Township Burn Ban Starting July 3, 2026

TEMPORARY EMERGECNY PROHIBITION ON OPEN BURNING AND FIREWORKS

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, due to current drought condition Open Burning is per the
Londonderry Township Emergency Management Office prohibited effective immediately
for a period of 30 days.
Open Burning being defined as:
“The burning of materials wherein products of combustion are emitted directly into the
ambient air without passing through a stack or chimney from an enclosed chamber. Open
burning does not include road flares, smudgepots and similar devices associated with
safety or occupational uses typically considered open flames, recreational fires or use of
portable outdoor fireplaces. For the purpose of this definition, a chamber shall be
regarded as enclosed when, during the time combustion occurs, only apertures, ducts,
stacks, flues or chimneys necessary to provide combustion air and permit the escape of
exhaust gas are open.”

Fireworks are “Class C” or “consumer-grade” fireworks such as firecrackers, Roman candles, bottle rockets, aerial shells, and similar fireworks that contain a maximum of 50 milligrams of explosive material. The use of all Class C fireworks is prohibited during this period of 30 days.
Recreational fires such as camp fires, outdoor portable fireplaces, bonfires, and similar
recreational fires are prohibited for a period of 30 days. This prohibition also includes fireworks.
This Notice is issued by the order of the Township Codes Department, Township
Emergency Management Office, and the Officers of the Londonderry Fire Company
This order is being issued due to current environmental conditions and forecasted fire
potential by the U.S. Forest Service. Questions may be directed to the Township Codes
