Part Time Small Engine Mechanic

General Purpose:

The Small Engine Mechanic will perform a wide variety of tasks as assigned.

 

Supervisor:

Works under the direction of the Golf Course Manager.

 

Hours of Work:                                         

The Small Engine Mechanic may work up a forty (40) hour week based on seasonal

demands with twenty (20) hours a week being more standard.  Hours may vary but are generally

from 6:00am to 2:00pm and weekends may be required. Holiday work may also be required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Diagnose, maintain, and repair grounds equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and golf carts.

Work closely with Golf Course Superintendent to prioritize repairs and advise on equipment needs.

Execute scheduled services such as oil changes and filter replacements.

Maintain detailed logs of equipment service and repairs.

Ensure all equipment safeguards are in place and functioning properly.

Sharpen and adjust mower reels and blades.

Other duties as assigned. 

 

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

Past experience of 3-5 years in small engine repair.

Yamaha Technical Academy (YTA) Golf Car Course (or similar) is beneficial.

Certified Welding Certificate (AWS) is preferred but not required.

Prior experience with reel mowers is beneficial.

 

Necessary Skills and Abilities:

Current and valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.                                            

Experience troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic and electrical systems, including reading of schematics.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs. unassisted) and work under adverse weather conditions. 

Ability to understand and follow directions with minimal supervision. 

Ability to use mechanical equipment, hand and power tools.

Focus on honesty, safety, and service to golf customers.
