Aerial Vegetation Management

Please be advised that FirstEnergy will be conducting Vegetation Management Aerial LiDar Data Acquisition Patrols on Transmission Lines across the entire FirstEnergy Transmission system, specifically all circuitry with voltages above 200kV, through the week of August 31, 2019. Vegetation Management Aerial LiDar Patrols gather information pertaining to corridor condition and identification of any vegetation conditions warranting further inspection from the ground and or corrective action. Geo-Digital will be the helicopter company assisting in the inspections.  The helicopter will be flying at a speed of about 35-40 mph at approximately 300-400 feet above the transmission lines and may circle around as needed. The flight crew provides information on their daily location to both the FirstEnergy Transmission Lines Maintenance and the FCC, and the pilot will be in communication with any local airports when in their airspace. Additionally, the FirstEnergy Vegetation Management Specialist will make every effort to contact any known sensitive property owners (e.g., horse or livestock farms). The helicopter is a blue and white Bell Long Ranger 206L with tail number N3180L.
