*** Effective January 1st 2026: The Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code will begin enforcing the 2021 Model I-codes of the International Code Council. ***All applications with a contract signed on or before December 31st, 2025 and submitted for review prior to June 1st, 2026 may be reviewed and approved under the existing 2018 Codes. Any contract signed after January 1st 2026 will be reviewed against the new standard . Changes to the PA UCC maybe reviewed in the PA Bulletin

Background:

Londonderry Township, Dauphin County is an "opt-in" municipality to the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code.

Passed by the Pennsylvania General Assembly as the Pennsylvania Construction Code Act (Act 45 of 1999) it established the basic requirements for the Uniform Construction Code. It has been altered thirteen times since becoming law.

Londonderry Township became an "op-in" municipality through Ordinance 2004-3 adopted by the Board of Supervisors on July 6th, 2004. This Ordinance became Chapter 5 Part 8 of the Londonderry Township Code of Ordinances.

The Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code Triennial Update adopting the International Code Councils model 2021 I-Codes has been recommended by the Review & Advisory Council (RAC), approved by the Independent Regulatory Review Commission, and will become effective January 1st 2026. The adopted language can be viewed in the Pennsylvania Bulletin November 8th 2025 edition.

Code Standards:
The International Code Council model I-Codes provide the frame work for building code enforcement in Londonderry Township under the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code. The 2021 I-Codes will be come effective January 1st 2026
