V.I.P. - VAN SERVICE for Seniors & Handicapped of Londonderry Township

The V.I.P. is Very Important People (volunteers) transporting Very Important People (seniors and handicapped residents) to various appointments and places they cannot access on their own.  There is no fee for this service, however, a donation is appreciated, as this money is used to pay for the annual inspection, oil changes, and general maintenance of the van.  If you, or someone you know, is in need of this service and would like to know if you qualify, please call the office at 944-1777, Monday - Friday from 10:00am - 12:00pm.

Help Needed

The V.I.P. is an all-volunteer organization that is desperately in need of volunteers who are willing to drive our wheelchair accessible van or to schedule the van service/drivers. It would be a terrible tragedy if we were forced to discontinue this much needed service in our community due to a lack of volunteers. The V.I.P. Office is located in the Municipal Building and is open Monday - Friday from 10:00am - 12:00pm.  If you are interested in volunteering and are able to donate a few hours per week, or even per month, please call Beverly Danner, Coordinator, at 367-1187.   We will work with your schedule.

2006 Acts of Caring Award Winner

The Public-Private Senior Transportation Group - Dauphin County On March 9th Beverly Danner, Coordinator of the Van Service for Seniors and Handicapped of Londonderry Township, was notified that the service was included in receiving 1of 18 National Awards in the "2006 Acts of Caring Awards". Dauphin Counties "Public-Private Senior Transportation Group" of which Londonderry Township is a part of, was selected by a panel of judges from the Points-of-Light Foundation, the American Red Cross, America's Promise - The Alliance for Youth, The Child Welfare League of America and the National Association of Volunteer Programs in Local Government. Londonderry Township is fortunate to have such dedicated volunteers who were recognized for being well organized and fiscally responsible. Congratulations to Beverly Danner and all of the volunteers who have given selflessly to help others in need! You are truly Very Important People!
